SALVATION ARMY GETS DONATION FROM ALABAMA POWER
The Salvation Army received a helping hand from Alabama Power this week, to the tune of $25,000.
The organization is finally in the rebuilding phase years after the April 27, 2011, tornado left Tuscaloosa with fewer places for the homeless to get help and find a place to stay.
Organizers say the Salvation Army has raised around $5 million for its new building, but it still needs $500,000 to $1 million more for remaining construction and amenities.
The old Salvation Army building could house around 50 people a night, but the new building will have room for at least 72 residents.
