Road work ahead: Pavement preservation project beginning on 20/59 Sunday

Road Work

The Alabama Department of Transportation is shoring up spots on Interstate 20/59 near Exit 77. That’s the Cottondale Buttermilk Road exit with T-Town Harley Davidson and Tuscaloosa Chevrolet.

ALDOT’s goal with the pavement preservation project is improving mobility and safety, extending the lifespan of the pavement and saving time on making repairs.

This project begins Sunday, Aug. 6, and will continue for about four month if weather permits. Lanes will be closed between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. to reduce impacts on traffic, and closures will not be allowed from Friday afternoons through Sunday mornings on University of Alabama home football game weekends.

If you’re traveling in the evening to overnight hours in that area, expect delays and observe work-zone speed limits.
