‘RIVER PITCH COMPETITION’ GIVES ENTREPRENEURS A CHANCE TO PRACTICE, WIN MONEY

Local entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to win cash for pitching their ideas at the 2019 River Pitch Competition on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Hosted jointly by the University of Alabama’s Culverhouse School of Business and The Edge, The River Pitch Business Idea Competition was created to help start-up business owners refine and progress their ideas. The event, held at the Tuscaloosa Riverwalk, is open to students and community members alike and is free to enter.

Teams who enter the competition will be split up into booths, where they will compete against one another. Judges will come around to each booth and one presenter from each team will have three minutes to sell their idea. A five-minute question and answer period will follow every pitch. One winner from each booth will receive a prize of $1,000.

To help entrepreneurs practice their pitches, The Edge will be offering walk-in pitch practice on Monday, Nov. 18.
