RESIDENTS MEET TO DISCUSS NORTHPORT’S SHIRLEY PLACE

Northport’s historic Shirley Place home has been closed for the past three years, but some residents want it opened up again.

District One City Councilwoman Judy Hayes said she’s fighting to bring the home back to its former glory.

Hayes held a meeting Thursday evening, addressing potential plans for the home, and many concerned residents came out with their full support.

Hayes said Shirley Place was once opened for tours during Dickens Downtown, but that has not been the case in the past few years.

Hayes said that opening the house will take the entire city council, but that that’s easier said than done.

Hayes also said she’s reached out for assistance regarding Shirley Place.
