REMEMBERING HOLLY: NORTHPORT’S LITTLE LIBRARIES AREN’T JUST ABOUT BOOKS
By WVUA 23 Student Reporter Meredith Barbrick
Little free libraries are popping up all across the country, offering children a spot for finding new books in their own neighborhoods. But in Northport, they aren’t just about getting children reading.
The Holly Rogers Project was created by friends and family after she was killed by a drunk driver.
Holly’s mother, Danette Williams, said she’s so proud her daughter’s name represents such a great project.
“Holly was a lover of children and a lover of kid’s books,” she said. “This is where she lived for 18 years of her 20 years, so of course we were honored to do this in Holly’s name.”
Holly’s friends and family said they hope people will start building Holly houses all around Northport.
