REMEMBERING DECEMBER 16, 2000 F4 TORNADO
December 16th, 2000 is a day forever etched in the hearts and minds of the survivors like Jane Spencer and her husband Tommy.
The very first comment Spencer made during our interview when remembering that day 16 years ago was that it “so warm outside,” especially for December.
Like many during a severe weather threat, Spencer thought the storm would just blow over instead it destroyed her family’s home and changed her life forever.
“That’s something you never forget,” Spencer said. “It did total our house, but a house can be replaced. It’s just bricks and wood. You cant’s replace bodies. The Lord watched after us.”
Since surviving that deadly F4 tornado, Spencer and her husband have contributed to other natural disaster recovery efforts around the country.
