PREVIEW OF FLOODPLAIN MEETING

Flooding is not something that is unheard in Tuscaloosa but something that many may not know is the cost that some residents have to pay as a result of this problem and it isn’t just the aftermath of the flooding itself.

Depending on where they live, some residents of flood prone areas need to pay for flood insurance and according to District 7 Tuscaloosa City Councilwoman Sonya Mckinstry, it is often more than they pay for their homes.

The city’s floodplain management committee is ready to do something about this problem.

The committee will be holding a meeting at the council chambers on November 3rd at 5 p.m.
