DCH Health System is reporting 20 COVID-19 positive inpatients as of Nov. 16, and of those 14 are unvaccinated.

There are less than five patients in the ICU.

At the University of Alabama at Birmingham, there are 16 COVID-19 positive inpatients; of those, 14 are unvaccinated.

Alabama Hospital Association President Don Williamson said 298 COVID-19 positive inpatients are currently in Alabama hospitals. Although numbers are headed in the right direction, he said we aren’t in the clear yet.

“Our positivity rate continues to be better and it’s around 4%,” said Williamson. “That’s clearly better than the 24% back in late August. We are still having 200 to 300 new diagnosed COVID-19 patients on many days, but things are better. We seem to be in the right place moving forward but there remain challenges.”

Williamson said nine children are still hospitalized with COVID-19 statewide, but that number is down from a high of 60.
