<p><p><p><p><p><p><p dir=”ltr”>The Tuscaloosa Police Department has been nurturing relationships with the community by offering a way residents can cool off from the hot summer weather and meet the officers working in their neighborhoods.</p><p>About 150 kids got to enjoy popsicles with police officers at Harmon Park.  Local city leaders say it is important for officers to build relationships with police.</p></p><div></div><p>Tuscaloosa City Councilwoman Raevan Howard said kids who have come out to mingle have asked to see police cars and motorcycles.</p><div></div><p>“It’s just been an overall great event,” said Howard.</p><p><p dir=”ltr”> In light of recent events, they want to build the community’s trust in the police and have officers connect with residents so future interactions can be dealt with peacefully.</p></p></p></p></p></p></p>
