POLICE SEARCHING FOR MAN AFTER CRASH KILLED PASSENGER

West Alabama authorities are searching for a man they say ran a red light and killed another man in a crash Aug. 6.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department said the multi-vehicle wreck happened at the intersection of Hellen Keller and University boulevards. When officers arrived, Anthony Dewayne Wells, 40, was pulled from the car he was driving and taken to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Wells’ passenger, Cleophus Henderson Jr., 49, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness said they saw Wells speed through a red light just before the crash, and based on those statements and evidence collected at the scene, investigators obtained a warrant for murder on Wells.

West Alabama authorities said they have not yet been able to locate the suspect, and are asking for help finding him. He drives a 2001 Gold Yukon with the tag No. 63GV765. He also has “Keishonda” tattooed on his abdomen.

If you have any information on Wells’ whereabouts, you’re asked to call Tuscaloosa County CrimeStoppers at 205-752-7867.
