POLICE SAY MAN FOUND GUN, ACCIDENTALLY SHOT SELF, GIRLFRIEND
SELMA, Ala. (AP) – Police in Selma say a man accidentally shot himself and his girlfriend with a gun he found.
Lt. Sam Miller said officers responded to a report of two gunshot victims late Friday night or early Saturday morning.
Miller said the man found a handgun and either fired it accidentally or because he didn’t realize it was loaded. Miller said the bullet went through the man’s leg and hit his girlfriend in the foot.
Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries. But Miller said the woman will need surgery on her foot.
The gun turned out to have been stolen.
Miller said the investigation is ongoing and no criminal charges were immediately filed.
