SHERIFF’S OFFICE: MAN, 36, FACING CHARGES AFTER ARGUMENT LEADS TO MURDER

A 36-year-old man is facing murder charges after an argument turned deadly in Tuscaloosa County Monday evening.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Department said it happened around 8 p.m. on South Rosser Road, near Big Sandy United Methodist Church.

The sheriff’s office said when they arrived they found Richard Lee Rawlins, 34, lying in the front yard of the home with a gunshot wound. Rawlins was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

Homicide investigators said that during the course of their investigation, they determined Rawlins had gone to see David Demond Hinton, 36. Hinton lives at the home where the shooting occurred.

Based on witness statements, homicide investigators said they determined an argument in the front yard between Rawlins and Hinton was the cause of the shooting.

Hinton has been charged with murder and was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $60,000 bond.
