POLICE MAKE ARREST IN BIRMINGHAM SECURITY GUARD’S KILLING
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) – Birmingham police say they’ve arrested a suspect in the October killing of a security guard shot to death at the apartment complex where he worked an overnight shift.
Police said in a statement Thursday night that 20-year-old Michael Bragg of Birmingham is charged with capital murder. He was being held in the Jefferson County Jail. It wasn’t immediately known whether he has an attorney.
Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards said 28-year-old Maurice Dukes was found dead in his vehicle at the apartment complex.
Police said in the statement that Dukes was just trying to do his job as a security guard, but lost his life in the process.
Police haven’t detailed what led them to Bragg, but said that citizens had come forward with information after police requested leads.
