UPDATE: 2 teens arrested after Tuscaloosa shooting Friday morning

UPDATE: 4 p.m., April 22, 2022:
Two teenagers are facing charges after a woman was shot in the leg this morning in Hay Court in West Tuscaloosa.
Tuscaloosa Police responded to reports of shots being fired around 9:30 a.m. and were still in the area just after 10 a.m., when a TPD officer saw a 17-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy shooting at one another in Hay Court.
After a short chase, the 17-year-old, who lives in Hay Court, was taken into custody. Another officer found the second teen at a nearby gas station and took him into custody.
An adult woman was hit by gunfire in the second shooting and has been treated for injuries that are not life-threatening.
After an investigation by TPD and the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, both teens were charged.
The 13-year-old was charged with:
- Attempted murder
- Being a person forbidden from possessing a firearm
- Second-degree receiving stolen property, for having a stolen handgun
The 17-year-old was charged with:
- Attempted murder
- Being a person forbidden from possessing a firearm
- Shooting into an occupied dwelling
- Second-degree assault
The 17-year-old was charged as an adult and was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a bond of $70,500.
The 13-year-old was placed in Tuscaloosa Juvenile Detention, where he is being held.
Investigators said the shootings stemmed from one of the teens making social media posts.
Because of a law passed last year, authorities cannot release any identifying information regarding the defendants.

Tuscaloosa authorities are investigating after a woman was shot at an apartment complex in West Tuscaloosa this morning.
The incident happened at Hay Court Apartments on 21st Street.
The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening, police said, and multiple suspects are in custody.
