DECATUR, Ala. (AP) – A third north Alabama man has been arrested in a confrontation in which much of an ear of a Morgan County sheriff’s deputy was bitten off earlier this month.

WAFF-TV reports that 35-year-old Joshua Martin Link of Baileyton was arrested Dec. 22 on an assault charge. Two relatives from the same town were arrested earlier on charges of obstructing government operations.

Court records show the three men were at a residence on Dec. 14 when authorities were called about someone threatening suicide.

Officials say much of a deputy’s ear was bitten off during the struggle, and the officer now need surgery to reconstruct the ear.
