UPDATE: WOMAN WHO REPORTED 2 MEN IN JEEP RAPED HER ARRESTED FOR FALSE REPORT

UPDATE 9/18/2016: Tuscaloosa Homicide Investigators say they’ve arrested the female University of Alabama student who reported a rape early Sunday morning in the parking lot near Sixth Street and Wallace Wade Boulevard.

Emma Mannion, 18, was charged with filing a false report, which is a class A misdemeanor.

Investigators said they interviewed witnesses and recovered video surveillance of the area that didn’t support Mannion’s initial account of the incident.

After confronting Mannion with the evidence, investigators said she admitted she falsified her report.


TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) – University of Alabama police are looking for two men they say forced a woman into an SUV and sexually assaulted her.

Police said in a news release that the victim was assaulted by two men inside a red Jeep Cherokee around 2 a.m. Sunday. Authorities say the attack took place in or around the parking area of Solomon’s Lot at 650 Wallace Wade Avenue, near Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Police said the suspects in the assault are two males, one being described as Hispanic, approximately 6 feet, 2 inches, with a wiry build.

Investigators haven’t said whether the victim is connected to the school.

The attack came a day after 19-year-old University of Alabama student Joseph Tyler Pitts was arrested and charged him with raping another student inside a college dorm room.
