PINSON MAN PLEADS GUILTY IN SLAYING OF EX-LOVER’S HUSBAND

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) – A man accused of shooting to death the husband of a woman he was having an affair with has pleaded guilty in the slaying.

Jeffery Brown, 37, of Pinson pleaded guilty Tuesday to manslaughter in the death of Michael Reese, 40.

Police found Reese dead inside his Morris home in February 2015 after responding to a report of a burglary.

Investigators say Brown and Reese’s wife, Cindy Reese, were having an affair and planned to kill Michael Reese so that they could be together.

Both were charged with murder and taken into custody the following month.

Brown’s attorney Joe Basgier says that under the plea deal, Brown is to receive a 20-year sentence and has agreed to testify against Cindy Reese at her trial later this year.
