Pet of the Week, Nov. 16, 2021: Meet Lucas

Pet Of The Week Lucas 2

By WVUA Digital Reporter Anneliese Taggart

This gorgeous gentleman is Lucas, a 2-year-old retriever/Lab/shepherd mix available for adoption from the Humane Society of West Alabama.

Lucas is a medium-sized dog and weighs just under 50 pounds, and he’s got the cutest little bobbed tail.

He was pulled from a local animal shelter where he’d been picked up as a stray several times.

This pup is an energetic, friendly, playful and super sweet youngster who loves running around the yard or chasing after a ball. Sometimes, he’ll even bring it back.

Most of all, Lucas adores being around people. Don’t let his size fool you — he’s 100% a lap dog.

Lucas will need a fenced yard if left outside unattended at all, but he can’t be an outside-only dog. Lucas should make a wonderful family pet and should be great with older children.

He’s begun crate training, is up to date on vet care, is heartworm negative, microchipped and neutered.

Lucas is available for adoption for a $75 fee. You can learn more about the adoption process right here.

If you’re interested in meeting Lucas, you can make an appointment by calling 205-554-0011 (leave a message) or email humaneswa@yahoo.com.
