Pet of the Week, May 31, 2022: Meet Shimmy

Shimmy is a precious girl with tons of happy-go-lucky energy who happens to be looking for her future forever home with the help of the Humane Society of West Alabama.

She’s about 2 years old and is a 35-pound pit bull mix with a smooth tan and white coat.

This girl was pulled from Metro Animal Shelter, where she’d been picked up by Animal Control.

Shimmy is an active dog with tons of energy, but once she gets her wiggles out she settles down as a cuddle bug. Because she’s so active, she’d make the perfect companion for someone who runs or hikes or loves the outdoors. She’s probably a bit too active for apartment living, and a fenced-in yard is a must.
She’ll be great with children 10 or older, but might be a bit too rambunctious for younger kids. A trial adoption is advised, but Shimmy has done well with other dogs.
She’s up to date on her vet care, is spayed, heartworm negative and comes microchipped.
Most animals adopted through HSWA have a $75 adoption fee, and Shimmy is no exception. You can learn more about the adoption process and search other dogs and cats available through HSWA right here.
