Pet of the Week, July 12, 2022: Meet Jack McFlea
Don’t let the name put you off, because Jack McFlea is flea-free and an absolute sweetheart. He’s available for adoption from the Humane Society of West Alabama.
This handsome Lab/shepherd mix with a chocolate-brown coat with flecks of white is about 4 years old and weighs in at just under 45 pounds.
Jack was pulled from Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter, where he’d been picked up as a stray. After no one came to claim him, HSWA stepped in.
He’s gentle, but loves getting all the pets you can possibly dole out. In fact, sometimes he’ll hoist his paw and tap you when he’s not getting the attention he’s after.
Jack needs all the reassurance, love and security that a family can give him — and a couch he can flop down on with that family!
If he’s left outside unattended at all, he’ll need a fenced-in yard, but Jack cannot be an outside-only dog. He loves his people too much.
He’d do OK in an apartment setting as long as he gets plenty of daily exercise and would make a great pet for anyone with children older than 8.
Jack gets along well with all the dogs he’s met so far and he’s been started on crate training.
He’s up-t0-date on vet care, is heartworm negative, microchipped and is scheduled to be neutered soon.
HSWA’s adoption fee is $75. You can learn more about the adoption process right here.
