Pet of the Week, Feb. 1, 2022: Meet Lucky

Lucky is a handsome little 5-year-old rat terrier mix with a heart of gold and a penchant to play! He’s available for adoption from the Humane Society of West Alabama.

He weighs in around 32 pounds, and his thick little body almost doesn’t seem like it can belong to his long legs and slim head.

Lucky was pulled from the Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter, where he was an owner surrender. Because of the unexpected upending of his life, Lucky will need a bit more time to adjust to any new situation. But if you’re willing to give him the time, space and understand he needs, Lucky is a loyal and fun companion who adores attention.

He’d be fine in an apartment setting as long as he gets enough exercise, and he requires indoor living because he loves his people too much to stay outdoors by himself. Lucky is best suited for a quiet, calm home with no children, and probably no other pets.

He is crate trained and house trained, up to date on vet care, is heartworm negative, microchipped and has been neutered. He’s also on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.

HSWA’s adoption fee is $75.

If you’re interested in adopting Lucky or any of the other animals available at the Humane Society of West Alabama, you can read more about the adoption process right here.
