PAUL LOONEY’S “PEOPLE, PLACES & THINGS” FEATURED AT FIRST FRIDAY

TUSCALOOSA – A man who is best known for his work on the stage is now stealing the spotlight with his paintings.

Paul Looney’s “People, Places and Things” is now on display at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center in Tuscaloosa. He works primarily with oil on canvas. His paintings are large and make bold use of color.

Looney’s subjects vary from Italian street scenes to dancers to Broadway marquis.

Looney said, “Most of my pieces are done as a result of travels that I’ve made. I called this show ‘People, Places and Things’ because that’s pretty much what it is”.

During his decades working in theatre, Looney grew a small acting troupe called Theatre Tuscaloosa into a robust company with loyal patrons, and a reputation for excellence across the southeast. After retiring, Looney was able to rekindle his fire for painting.

Looney’s “People, Places and Things” is on display at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center throughout the remainder of December. All of the pieces on display are for sale. You can experience Looney’s work online, as well, at PaulLooney.com.
