PASTOR SHOT AFTER PRAYER MEETING
ALBERTVILLE, Ala. (AP) – Police say an Alabama pastor was accidentally shot and wounded by a man trying to shoot another person.
Albertville police say 18-year-old Romeo Campos was arrested on charges including attempted murder after he mistakenly shot the pastor. Police say Campos was trying to shoot a man accused of propositioning a 15-year-old girl related to Campos.
Assistant Chief Jamie Smith says the incident began Wednesday night after Campos chased after 29-year-old Randall Ginn, who was accused of propositioning the girl. Campos followed him to a church where a prayer meeting had just ended. Smith says Campos tried to shoot Ginn, but missed and shot the pastor.
The pastor was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Ginn was arrested on a public intoxication charge.
It’s unclear if Campos or Ginn have attorneys.
