OVERNIGHT STORMS IN HALE COUNTY LEAVE BEHIND TRAIL OF DAMAGE

Overnight storms caused significant problems for those in Hale County.

Winds as strong as 80 mph ripped through the southern part of the county, taking down hundreds of trees and damaging several structures. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

One family was traveling on a rural county road during the storm when a tree fell in front of them. The fallen tree trapped the family inside their vehicle.

“We were coming home. Trees were down everywhere,” said Dianna Carlisle, who was driving the car that was trapped. “We had to go down in the ditch to get around it. We got stuck. Couldn’t even get out. We had to call our first responders who came immediately. they helped us get out with no problem. I just give god the glory because it could have been worse. We just thank god.”
