HOOVER, Ala. (AP) – An overnight robbery near Birmingham prompted a manhunt that included multiple police and a helicopter and ended with an early morning arrest.

News outlets report a holdup was reported about 3 a.m. Tuesday at a convenience store in Hoover. Police in neighboring Vestavia Hills caught up with the vehicle after a lookout was issued.

The man abandoned the car and ran into the woods. Police converged on the scene and brought in a helicopter and dogs to aid in the search.

Authorities say a suspect was arrested about 6:30 a.m. There was no immediate word on the man’s name or any charges.
