One Week Later: Masks Seem More Prevalent Around T-Town

Innisfree Masks

By WVUA 23 News Reporter Sidney Spencer

Earlier this month, WVUA 23 highlighted photos spreading around social media of long lines outside local bars with few masks and sidewalks overflowing with people. But these days the sights aren’t so dramatic.

Popular hangout spots along the Strip next to the University of Alabama say they’re welcoming customers only under specific conditions.

Bars such as Innisfree are emphasizing the use of masks with signs in place by their entrances, and customers are encouraged to keep a safe distance apart while waiting in line.

Meanwhile, some videos shared on social media throughout the past few weeks suggest a different story inside some bars and other locales. Some of these videos feature mask-free patrons or a lack of social distancing.
