ONE MAN IN CUSTODY AFTER HOMEOWNER SURPRISES BURGLARS
CENTER POINT, Ala. (AP) – Authorities say a Center Point man found two burglary suspects in his home and one has been arrested.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s spokesman Randy Christian says deputies responded to an alarm Friday morning but the homeowner arrived there first and said two suspects were still inside.
Christian says the homeowner confronted the suspects as they came outside carrying a television. Christian says the burglars fled but one was arrested at a nearby residence.
Christian says the suspect who is in custody has been identified as 20-year-old Niheem Lee Anderson. He’s charged with burglary and theft of property.
Jail records say Anderson is being held on $45,000 bond. Court records show Anderson has been arrested on drug and weapons charges before.
Authorities are searching for the second suspect.
