YELLOW BLUFF, Ala. (AP) – Authorities say two sheriff’s deputies were shot and wounded and a suspect is dead after gunfire erupted in a small Alabama community.

District Attorney Michael Jackson in Alabama’s Wilcox County says the shooting happened Wednesday afternoon in the town of Yellow Bluff.

He said the officers were responding to a domestic call when a woman ran out of a home and a man followed her, firing shots.

Authorities said the suspect died but it wasn’t immediately known if that was because of a self-inflicted wound or if deputies had shot him. The man’s name has not yet been released.
