Thompson hosted Oak Mountain on Friday night and the Warriors added one more, “W,” to their schedule when they defeated them 45-7.

Thompson got the ball first and JJ Piggies got the first touchdown of the night with a 32-yard run on 4th and one for the score. This put the Warriors up 7-0 after the extra point was good.

Thompson quarterback Zach Sims started for the second straight game, and he hit Jalen Ward in stride over top of the defense in the first quarter for a 64-yard touchdown pass.

Oak Mountain would not let Thompson turn the game into a blowout. At the end of the first quarter, Evan Smith floated a touchdown pass to Ethan Hammett to make the score 14-7.

In the second quarter, Thompson got back in the end zone when Zach Sims threw another touchdown pass to Ryan Peppins.

Thompson will go on to play Hoover for the second time this season next Friday in the semi-final game in hopes to get their revenge on the Bucs for their only loss this season. The winner will advance to the AHSAA Class 7A State Championship where they will play the winner of the Central vs Auburn game on December 1st.
