NORTHPORT WOMAN DIES IN HEAD-ON COLLISION

A two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Northport woman and injured another Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened on U.S. 43 near mile marker 219, 15 miles north of Northport.

Forty-five year-old Tonya Michelle Jones was killed when the 2004 Ford Taurus she was driving collided with a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 35 year-old Peggy Sue Woolbright of Berry.

Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
