The Winn-Dixie store on Highway 43 in Northport held a soft reopening Wednesday to show off its fresh new look.

The store first opened 20 years ago but was recently remodeled to provide a better shopping experience for its customers. Regional Vice President Lynn Rushing said that they expanded sections of the store to meet customer demands. The deli, seafood and organic sections all received a facelift.

Winn-Dixie also donated $1,000 to nearby Huntington and Northport Elementary schools as a back-to-school surprise.

“To me that shows what kind of partner they are to this community to give those two schools $1,000 total and as one of the principals told me they are always running in here for something all the time and it is such a wonderful way to start a school year to know you have that kind of support,” Northport Mayor Donna Aaron said.

The store will host its official grand reopening Saturday morning. The event will feature products samples, free barbeque, live music and more.
