NORTHPORT TEACHERS GIVE ‘CARE BAGS’ TO STUDENTS WITH SNACKS, WORKBOOKS

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) – Two Alabama elementary school teachers have delivered “care bags” filled with snacks, groceries, and class workbooks to students out of school during the coronavirus pandemic.

AL.com reports Merideth Lett and Hollie Nelson took bags to all 25 of their students in Northport on Thursday.

The school materials in the bags are bound to be useful to students, as most Alabama schools will be closed at least through April 3.

The teachers at Huntington Place Elementary School also delivered groceries to students who whose families were food insecure.

The delivery was a community effort supported by a Publix grocery store and a church.
