NORTHPORT MAYOR & COUNCIL UPSET CITY PAYING FOR LEVEE REPAIRS

The Northern portion of the Robert L. Platt Memorial Levee Trail in Northport is visibly cracked.

Northport Mayor Bobby Herndon say residents will have to pay the price.

“I didn’t like the fact that the citizens of Northport was going to have to pay the money back when the Corp Of Engineers admitted it was their Design Flaw” says Herndon.

The City Of Northport has already forked over nearly $500,000 to move the levee over about 40 Feet.

“Of course safety is going to be first and foremost, we’re not going to jeopardize safety or play chicken with the safety of the public so ,we made the dollar investment so, now the next step is making sure our dollars that we invested in this project is getting back to the citizens” says District 2 Northport City Councilman Jay Logan.

Work should begin in November.

It should take 30 to 45 days to complete.

No residents will be affected during the Levee Repairs.
