Northport man charged with possessing obscene material featuring minors

A Northport man was arrested Thursday in the wake of a West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force investigation involving child pornography.

Chee Wei Tan, 33, is charged with 10 counts of possessing material containing a visual depiction of persons younger than 17 involved with obscene acts.

Members of the task force arrested Tan after a search of a Northport residence Thursday morning. The search was assisted by the Alabama Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Joint Electronics Crimes Task Force and Homeland Security Investigations.

Tan could be facing additional charges. He was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a bond of $150,000.
