NORTHPORT CITY COUNCIL HOPING INCENTIVES WILL BRING IN NEW BUSINESSES

The Northport City Council discussed possible retail opportunities for its city at a meeting on Monday night. The public hearing was held to incentivize a development group to bring new investments, such as restaurants, into the area.

As of now, Northport City Council President Jay Logan said there are four or five possible businesses slated to inhabit the space around Northport City Hall. He expects there to be around 11 new businesses in the future

“The developing group as we speak, so again they are actually demoing the building as we speak. They are going to redevelop some aspects of the building,” Logan said. “They have a very strict timeline to take advantage of the incentive package we’ve given them. The incentive package is a $1.5 million incentive over 10 years.”

Logan believes the project will be a success and will bring major retail opportunities to the city.
