No injuries in Northport apartment fire

Four families are displaced less than a week before Christmas after the apartment complex they lived in caught fire. Thankfully, no one was injured in an early morning fire. Northport Fire Rescue got a call around 4:00 a.m. Monday reporting a fire at Saddlewood Apartments in Northport. When they arrived to the scene they were faced with lots of fire and smoke. Captain Roger Potter said a fire is bad at any time but especially overnight when people are sleeping.

“The time of night, it was in the morning. There was a rescue situation. We had to make sure everyone was out of the structure,” said Potter.

We spoke with one of the families who is displaced by the fire. The mother told us they lost everything.

Northport Mayor Bobby Herndon is getting together a list of things needed by each family that was left homeless by the fire. As soon as the lists are complete he plans to share that information on his social media pages.

As of Monday afternoon the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
