The Nick’s Kids Foundation annual luncheon on Friday honored over 50 local teachers for their dedication inside and outside of the classroom.

Teachers were treated to lunch, flowers and a performance by the Tuscaloosa Children’s Theatre.

The foundation also presented each recipient with a certificate and 500 dollars in gift cards.

Terry Saban said teachers are so important in a child’s life and deserve to be recognized.

“Babies look to their parents for guidance and then I think to their teachers,” said Saban. “And they’re always there for them. Whether it’s in the classroom, or through Zoom, I think they teach our children that no matter what we have to face, no matter what the disaster is, we can get through it one step at a time.”

This is the 10th year the Nick’s Kids Foundation has hosted the luncheon.
