NEW TESTIMONY IN MIKE HUBBARD HEARING
OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) – A former assistant to Attorney General Luther Strange has testified in a hearing on House Speaker Mike Hubbard’s effort to get ethics charges tossed out of court.
Defense lawyers had former Deputy Attorney General Sonny Reagan take the stand Monday to outline his complaints about the Hubbard case.
Reagan told a judge that prosecutor Matt Hart is out to ruin Hubbard politically and made several threats against him.
Reagan resigned last year after he began complaining about Hart and was put on leave.
Hubbard faces 23 felony ethics charges accusing him of using his public positions to benefit his businesses.
The case is scheduled to go to trial March 28. Prosecutors are objecting to defense efforts to delay the trial, which has already been postponed once.
