NEW STREETLIGHTS COMING TO VETERANS MEMORIAL, LOOP ROAD INTERSECTION

The Tuscaloosa City Council is moving forward with their plan to reduce costs for new streetlights planned for the intersection of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Loop Road and Diamond Ridge Lane.

New streetlights will feature LEDs, which feature cheaper maintenance costs and offer better lighting capabilities.

District 7 City Councilwoman Sonya McKinstry said it’s a move that’s long overdue.

“The add-in lighting is something that just helps illuminate that area,” she said. “It’s very, very dark, and it is long overdue.”

McKinstry said 10 new lights will be installed in an area that previously had zero.
