Tuscaloosa’s Strip near the University of Alabama campus is getting a new hot spot next month.

Named after its street address, Twelve 25 bar is expected to be running in the next three weeks. It’s located next to Egan’s Bar, across from CVS on University Boulevard.

This upscale sports lounge offers a full bar, golf simulator and world-class DJs pumping out tunes.

General Manager Bear Danford said they are offering new things to the Strip that it has never seen before.

“We’re also gonna do like e-games,” said Danford. “We’re gonna have Madden competitions, Fortnite competitions, all this other stuff. It’s gonna be a lot going on, and we’re gonna be able to offer a lot to the community.”

While Twelve 25 is offering an entertainment hub for students and the rest of the Tuscaloosa community, the owners said they also value the importance of making sure their customers remain safe on the Strip.

“Unlike a lot of places here, we’re not looking for just every big guy to be a bouncer,” said Danford. “We are looking for what we like to call ‘face men,’ people that can actually talk down situations that kinda stuff before it gets to that point.”

All employees will undergo a safety training program, Danford said.

Twelve 25 was approved for a restaurant and liquor license at Tuesday’s Tuscaloosa City Council meeting. District 4 Councilman Lee Busby said safety in the area needs improvement, especially for college students out late.

“Some (potential improvements) involve lighting, security cameras,” said Busby. “Some of them involve more restraint in some of the activities down there.”

Twelve 25 will try to ensure their customers are in a safe, fun environment.

Their projected opening is LSU weekend.
