New location a success: Holidays on the Plaza is here to stay

After a momentous first year in its new spot, Holidays on the Plaza will be returning in November.

The outdoor ice rink and Tinsel Trail made the move from the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater to Government Plaza in 2021 because of construction on Jack Warner Parkway, but the temporary location will become permanent, city officials said.

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox said a successful turnout in the new location, including a 121% increase in ice skaters, prompted the city to permanently change the location.

Today is the last day for ice skating.
