New center for racial reconciliation opens in Tuscaloosa

Downtown Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – An organization aimed at eliminating racial barriers and promoting healing has opened a new location in Tuscaloosa.

The Building Bridges Institute for Racial Reconciliation marked its official launch at a new office on Thursday inside a community center owned by a church.

The Tuscaloosa News reports that founder Carol Caffee says she hopes the institute will serve as a “bridge” for people by providing opportunities to come together and have an open dialogue.

The organization was formed in 2020. With the addition of a physical office, Caffee and board members will dedicate the next few months networking and introducing the institute to the community.
