The University of Alabama cut the ribbon today for the new Drummond Lyon Hall. This three-story building, located on Sorority Row, will house fashion majors in the College of Human Environmental Sciences. The 25,000 square foot building will have two studio classrooms, the fashion archive, offices for fashion retailing and apparel design facility, and exhibition galleries.

Drummond Lyon Hall will be considered the official department of clothing, textiles, and interior design. This building aims to provide a deeper hands-on experience such as runway events, student exhibitions, textiles research and collaborative meetings between students and clients.

Doster Hall originally housed students interested in fashion and textiles but also included students of outward  interests. The new Drummond Lyon Hall is in place primarily for fashion students so that they may have their own individual place of learning.
