Need help with Christmas? Here are deadlines you should know

With Christmas just a few months away, two programs are hosting its annual events to help families in need.

The Salvation Army is hosting its Angel Tree program, which allows people to pick up an angel and buy a less fortunate child gifts to give them a wonderful Christmas.

If you are interested in benefiting this program, the application opens up here on Oct. 14 at 9 a.m. Eligible counties that can participate are Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Sumter, Pickens and Tuscaloosa.

The Marine’s annual Toys for Tots applications will open next week as well, but due to COVID-19, its application will also be online and can be filled out anytime between Oct. 15 and Nov. 15.

Last year in Tuscaloosa, Toys for Tots gave out over 25,000 toys to 9,357 children.
