Money taken from suspected drug dealers in Tuscaloosa is perhaps being put to good use thanks to the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force.

The agency spent more than $5,000 on 200 units of Naloxone, an injection-based drug that can save lives from opioid overdose.

Lt. Teena Richardson with the Tuscaloosa Police Department said it’s a growing problem throughout the country.

The drug will be distributed to paramedics with Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue, Northport Fire Rescue and the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
