Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa is supporting victims of Hurricane Ida with a special goods supply drive.

The church is collecting canned goods, baby supplies, water and toiletries for those affected by the devastation in Louisiana.

Mt. Pilgrim Pastor Frank Kennedy Sr. said they’re partnering with churches in Homer, Louisiana, so they can best assist those who are still recovering.

Kennedy said he is grateful for the community support and is asking for more resources to be donated.

“We are asking people, if they could, that they would drop off some gift cards so we can give out gift cards so people can get gas or other needs that we don’t have on the truck,” said Kennedy. “We just thank everybody who has given, and we know we’re going to be a blessing to those people when we get there. So be praying for us and we’ll be praying for them.”

Mount Pilgrim parishioners are leaving Friday. If you’re interested in donating goods, you can drop them off between 5 and 7 p.m. today at the church, located at 128 39th St. E. in Tuscaloosa.
