MORE STATE TROOPERS WILL FILL ROADS FOR CHRISTMAS TRAVEL
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says it’s putting more state troopers on the road as more drivers are expected to travel through the Christmas and New Year’s holiday season.
“Less than a month ago, we announced Troopers investigated 14 traffic deaths during the five-day Thanksgiving travel period,” said Secretary of Law Enforcement Stan Stabler.
Stabler said he encourages all drivers to obey traffic laws, ensure everyone in their vehicle is properly buckled up, avoid drinking and driving and give other drivers enough space.
“Again, we implore motorists to help us make our roadways safer for everyone,” Stabler said.
Heightened patrols begin Friday and will end Jan. 1.
Last year during the same period, Alabama State Troopers arrested 475 drivers for driving under the influence.
