chamber of commerce

Jim Paige, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, announced 44 more small businesses will receive relief amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

This week the chamber will give away $230,900 of relief funds.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 83 businesses have received help totaling about $437,000.

Paige told the council some businesses had qualified for some relief but after the economy reopened, their businesses got back on track.

He said that they told him to give the money to those businesses that needed it more.

“I think that’s really heartwarming that you got that many businesses they’re wanting to pay it forward by letting others take that money, but they said the money did exactly what it needed to do. It provided a bridge until they could access other resources or market conditions improved if they opened back up,” Paige said.

The chamber has not put a deadline for small businesses to apply.

The forms can be found and filled out on their website.
