Drivers heading to work or school in the Northport area will notice a slight difference.

Mitt Lary Road will re-open after completing a week of construction.

The project started roughly two to three months ago with construction happening whenever it could.

The bulk of the project will come over the summer months.

With the City of Northport rapidly growing, Mayor Herndon says better modes of transportation is necessary.

Mitt Lary Road will become three lanes making it easier for traffic to flow.

Once the project is complete, the city will receive all the money it spent back thanks to the three cent sales tax.

The project is set to be complete in August.
