MILLION DOLLAR BAND WORKING TO RAISE MONEY FOR TRIP TO MACY’S THANKSGIVING PARADE
Story by WVUA 23 Reporter Lacey Beasley
The University of Alabama’s Million Dollar Band is invited to perform in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, but they need help with expenses.
On March 25, the band is kicking off a blitz fundraiser. In honor of the university being founded in 1831, the blitz will last one day, eight hours, and 31 minutes.
Performing in the parade is a major honor for all band members since the Million Dollar Band was selected from over 100 applicants and only one of nine bands chosen.
One band member said she is thankful for this campaign to help her fund this trip.
“And we are so, so appreciative that they have decided to launch this campaign so that we all get the opportunity to go because there is 400 of us and it is going to be very costly, but we wanna make it as best as we can, so go down there, have a good time and perform,” said Marley Perry, color guard captain.
